A supermarket site went to market at Menangle — not Menangle Park
Colliers took The Village Square, Menangle, a 1.16-hectare site by Menangle station, to expressions of interest closing 27 August 2026. It is a different suburb and a different project from the Menangle Park town centre.
A retail development site next to Menangle railway station has been offered for sale. It is worth being precise about it, because the naming and the geography invite confusion.
What the source says
The site is 1.16 hectares, zoned E1 Local Centre, marketed by Colliers as The Village Square, Menangle. The indicative concept is a 3,185 square metre neighbourhood centre anchored by a 1,050 square metre supermarket, with a mini-major, specialty retail bays, food and beverage, health and childcare uses, and 178 at-grade parking spaces. The expressions-of-interest campaign was due to close at 2pm on Thursday 27 August 2026. The agents named are James Wilson, Joe Sacco and Ben Wilkinson of Colliers.
Colliers’ campaign material cites trade-area projections of population growth from 5,088 residents to 16,288 by 2046, and retail spending rising from $78.2 million to $541.4 million over the same period. Those are the sales campaign’s projections, not a council or agency forecast.
What this is not
This is a site being marketed to developers and investors. There is no lodged development application, no approved scheme and no published building plans. The concept layout is described in the campaign as indicative. The campaign closed at 2pm on 27 August 2026. As at 21 September 2026, no buyer, price or timeline had been published, and nothing establishes when a supermarket might open, or whether one will.
It is also separate from the Woolworths-anchored town centre inside the Dahua estate at Menangle Park, which is a development application under assessment by Campbelltown City Council on a different site. That one is covered separately in the town centre DA item.
What it means for a household here
Nothing immediate. Menangle Park’s own supermarket question is unchanged: the closest full-line supermarkets remain Macarthur Square, about 7.0 km by road, and Marketfair Campbelltown, about 7.8 km. See Where to shop.
If The Village Square is eventually built, it would be a small neighbourhood centre across the river rather than a replacement for either. The other supermarket-anchored proposal for this catchment is the Woolworths town centre DA in Menangle Park itself, which is under assessment — so one of the two is in this suburb and one is across the river.
What to watch
Whether a buyer is announced, and then whether a development application is lodged with Wollondilly Shire Council. A sale is not an approval, and an approval is not a shop.
