Woolworths lodges a DA for a neighbourhood shopping centre within the planned Menangle Park Town Centre

The wait for shops inside the suburb has an official next step. A development application for the Menangle Park town centre, anchored by a Woolworths supermarket, is with Campbelltown City Council. The reference is 2503/2026/DA-C. Woolworths’ own consultation site dates the lodgement to May 2026; Dahua Group Australia announced it on 13 July 2026.

What is proposed

The site is about 37,000 sqm inside the release area. The proposal covers a full-line Woolworths supermarket, specialty retail and everyday services, a childcare facility, a medical centre, health and fitness studios, an indoor recreation facility with a swim school, restaurants and cafes, and roughly 550 at-grade car spaces plus eight direct-to-boot bays.

Where it sits in the process

Woolworths’ published planning-process graphic sets out five stages: community consultation; DA lodged (May 2026); Council assessment; public exhibition; Council determination. As at 30 August 2026 it marked Council assessment as the current stage. Public exhibition and determination were both shown as still to come.

So this is not an approval. It has not been on public exhibition, which means the window for residents to lodge a submission has not opened yet. Dahua says construction is targeted to start in 2027 with opening anticipated in late 2028. Those are the proponent’s target dates; Council has not yet determined the application.

What it means for a household here

Nothing changes on the ground in 2026 or 2027. The weekly shop still means driving out of the suburb. Measured from the estate entrance on Menangle Road, Macarthur Square is 6.96 km and Marketfair Campbelltown 7.75 km — the two closest full supermarkets. Meanwhile the estate keeps growing around the site. On the developer’s construction tracker, read on 30 August 2026, Stage 3 North Phase 2 carried a construction completion target of 26 March 2027 and Stage 4 North 22 April 2027, which is what eventually unlocks registration and settlement for those stages.

What to watch

Public exhibition is the next real event. That is the point at which parking, traffic on Menangle Road, trading hours and the aquatic centre can be raised on the record. Search 2503/2026/DA-C on Campbelltown City Council’s Development Online platform for the current status and documents.

One more thing worth separating: Mirvac’s “The Village Square” next to Menangle station is a different project, in Menangle 2568 in the Wollondilly Shire. Some agents market it under a similar name. It is not this centre.
