School Infrastructure NSW says the Menangle Park primary school opens Day 1 Term 1 2029
The agency has completed an initial master plan for a 500-place primary school with a co-located public early learning service, and the 2026-27 Budget funds it — but planning approval has not been sought.
Menangle Park’s first public primary school has cleared a real step. School Infrastructure NSW says it has completed the initial master plan for the school, according to the planning update the agency published in June 2026. The 2026-27 NSW Budget, announced on 22 June 2026, lists the project as “Menangle Park - new primary school with co-located public early learning” inside a $9.2 billion four-year school infrastructure package. No project-specific dollar figure has been published.
What the agency says
On siting: the school will be “located centrally in the precinct, near the future proposed Menangle Park town centre and future housing”. On size: “The new school will have capacity for 500 students and has been master planned for future expansion”. On timing: “The new school will open to students for Day 1 Term 1 2029.”
Scope is 24 classrooms grouped around shared common areas and multipurpose spaces, three support learning classrooms, a co-located public early learning centre, a multipurpose hall and covered outdoor learning area, a full-sized playing field, a multipurpose sports court, landscaping, kiss-and-drop spaces and bicycle racks.
What comes after the master plan
A Project Reference Group of local educational experts, architects, planners and design professionals has been set up to advise the project, and the agency’s project page shows the Design stage as in progress. Beyond that, the update sets out the steps ahead: site due diligence assessments and investigations start “later in 2026”, the appointed architect is validating the master plan ahead of concept design, and a community information session will be held “prior to seeking planning approval”. No street address for the site has been published.
What it means for a household here
Until that school opens, Menangle Park addresses sit in the Douglas Park Public School primary intake area, about 9 km away. Secondary intake is split — Mount Annan High School covers the western and central part of the suburb, Ambarvale High School the eastern part. Because that boundary runs through the suburb, check your own street address on School Finder rather than assuming.
No intake area has been drawn for the future Menangle Park school. A child starting Kindergarten in 2027 or 2028 will start somewhere else, and no published boundary tells you whether they would later transfer. The schools and childcare guide has the full picture.
What to watch
The community information session the agency has said it will hold in late 2026, then the planning approval application. Those two are the next public milestones on the way to the 2029 date.
