Mark the date: the federal government has confirmed Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport at Badgerys Creek opens to passenger flights on 25 October 2026.
For Menangle Park, that changes the travel maths. The new airport is roughly a 40-minute drive — against about an hour up the M5 to Sydney Airport, traffic permitting — which is likely to make WSI the easy option for domestic trips from this side of Sydney.
The airport opens with both domestic and international services, 24-hour operations, and a single terminal designed to be walked end-to-end in minutes — a very different experience from Mascot.
Once it opens, we'll drive it from Menangle Park at a realistic hour and publish the actual door-to-door time — not the brochure number. Watch this space.
