New bus 845 links Campbelltown to Western Sydney International

Route 845 started on Sunday 5 July 2026. It runs between Campbelltown and Western Sydney International Airport via Oran Park, every 30 minutes, from 5am to 10pm, seven days a week.

What the source says

Transport for NSW lists the 845 alongside four other new airport routes on the same 30-minute, 5am to 10pm pattern: 772 from Mount Druitt, 790 from Penrith, 825 from Liverpool via Bonnyrigg and 860 from Liverpool via Leppington. A free WSI Link shuttle from St Marys station is to run once passenger flights begin.

One condition is on the same Transport for NSW page, in its note on the M12: access into the airport site will not be available until the airport opens in late October 2026. The Australian Government says freight operations began on 26 July 2026, with Qantas Freight regular services from 27 July, and passenger flights start on 25 October 2026.

What it means for a household here

There is no direct bus from Menangle Park to the airport. The chain is: train from Menangle Park Station to Campbelltown, or the 889 bus as far as Macarthur and a second service on to Campbelltown, then the 845. Since 5 July 2026 the 889 itself no longer runs between Macarthur Station and Campbelltown Station, so it cannot do that leg for you. That is three legs, and the train from Menangle Park is broadly hourly with peak extras — 20 northbound and 22 southbound stops on a weekday — so the connection is the weak link rather than the 845 itself.

Driving remains the realistic option for a flight. Western Sydney International is about 34 km from Menangle Park Station by road, around 37 minutes in free-flow conditions. That is a map-routing estimate, not an official travel time, and peak conditions are materially slower. The route runs up the Hume, then Narellan Road and The Northern Road — signalised arterial roads for most of the way. The toll-free M12 Motorway, open since 14 March 2026, serves the airport from the M7 side and is not on the run from here.

What to watch

Whether Transport for NSW adds or reworks services once passenger flights begin in late October 2026, and whether anything is added on the Macarthur side rather than only from Campbelltown.
