Spring Farm Parkway Stage 2 is funded for planning only

Spring Farm Parkway Stage 2 would be a 3 km four-lane divided road running west from Stage 1 to Liz Kernohan Drive, tying together the Camden Bypass, the Hume Motorway and Menangle Road. Where it stands is simple: only the planning is funded.

What the source says

Transport for NSW’s “Next steps” list marks the project at “Proposed strategic design - We are here”. Ahead of it sit the Review of Environmental Factors and concept design, a consultation report, project determination, detailed design, a request for tender, appointment of a main contractor and start of construction. The last five of those steps are each tagged “(subject to funding)”.

The money committed is $15 million, jointly from the Australian and NSW governments in June 2024, with the Australian Government share $7.5 million and the 2025-26 NSW Budget allocating $12.4 million over four years. The federal project record describes the scope plainly: “develop a Final Business Case to link Liz Kernohan Drive at Spring Farm and Spring Farm Parkway Stage-1 at Menangle Park”.

Jacobs Australia was appointed in May 2025 to do the design and prepare the Review of Environmental Factors. Transport for NSW said the concept design and REF would go on public display in late 2026, with the final business case completed by early 2027.

What it means for a household here

Stage 1 is open and gives Menangle Park a connection to the Hume Motorway; the ramps are city-facing only, so it is not a full interchange, and southbound motorway trips need another one. Stage 2 is the piece that would open up the run west to Camden and the Camden Bypass, and Transport for NSW expects it to divert around 30,000 cars a day from Narellan Road once operating. None of that is scheduled.

Plan your driving around the roads that exist. Menangle Road remains the daily route to Campbelltown, and its own proposed widening is also only at planning stage.

What to watch

The REF and concept design going on public display. Transport for NSW said late 2026, and the display had not opened when this was checked at the end of August 2026. That display is also the moment to make a submission. The project team’s infoline is 1800 325 146.
