Fisher's Ghost turns 70, and the street parade returns on 31 October

Campbelltown City Council’s programme page has the Festival of Fisher’s Ghost, the LGA’s longest-running festival, marking its 70th year in 2026 and running Thursday 29 October to Sunday 8 November. It is also 200 years since the story of Fred Fisher’s ghost began.

The headline for a Menangle Park household is that the street parade returns to Queen Street on Saturday 31 October, 2pm to 4pm, after several years without it. South West Voice reported the date first; Council’s programme page carries it.

The rest of the programme, as Council lists it

• Fisher’s Twilight Streets — a free two-day street festival through Mawson Park and Queen Street with live music, a food lane and a lighting display. Saturday 4pm to 10pm, Sunday 3pm to 9pm.
• Fisher’s Ghost Fun Run — Sunday 8 November, 8am to 12pm, at Western Sydney University and TAFE campuses, 5 km and 10 km, on Council’s 2 September 2026 release.
• Family scavenger hunt — Friday 30 October at the Billabong Parklands.
• 64th Fisher’s Ghost Art Award — at Campbelltown Arts Centre from 26 September to 4 December, with more than $60,000 in prizes and free entry.

Getting there

Queen Street Campbelltown is 8.47 km from the estate entrance, about 10 minutes off-peak. Parade day closes part of Queen Street, so allow for that.

By train, Menangle Park to Campbelltown takes 8 to 12 minutes depending on the service, but weekend services are roughly one every 1.5 to 2.5 hours in each direction — see getting around before relying on them. Menangle Park station is recorded as not wheelchair accessible; boarding ramps need no pre-booking.

Transport for NSW’s future trackwork calendar stamped 4 September 2026 lists buses replacing trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown across the closing weekend, 7 and 8 November — see six more trackwork weekends. It is a forecast, so check the trip planner closer to the date.

Worth knowing about the art award venue

The Art Award exhibition runs at Campbelltown Arts Centre, 1 Art Gallery Road, where galleries and the shop are open daily 10am to 4pm with free gallery entry.
