Transport for NSW lists six more trackwork weekends on the Southern Highlands Line

Transport for NSW's forward calendar lists buses replacing trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown on six weekends from 26 September. Four are marked Saturday daytime; 7–8 November and 9–10 January 2027 carry no daytime qualifier.

If you plan train trips out of Menangle Park, six weekends between late September and January are worth noting now. Transport for NSW’s future trackwork calendar — stamped 260904 on every page, created on 4 September 2026 and read on 6 September — lists buses replacing trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown on Saturday 26 September, Saturday 24 October, the weekend of 7 and 8 November, Saturday 14 November, Saturday 12 December, and the weekend of 9 and 10 January 2027. Menangle Park is one of the stations on that section: Transport for NSW’s alert for 12 and 13 September put replacement route 6SH at all stations between Moss Vale and Campbelltown.

The calendar has been reissued since. Issue 260918, read on 21 September 2026, still carries 24 October, 7 and 8 November, 14 November, 12 December and 9 and 10 January, in the same words. Two things changed. It now runs a month further, to the weekend of 13 and 14 February. And it starts at Tuesday 6 October, so Saturday 26 September is no longer in it — the calendar only ever covers beyond the next fortnight, and that date has now passed inside it. That is not a cancellation. For 26 September, check transportnsw.info, which is where Transport for NSW puts confirmed trackwork within two weeks.

“Saturday daytime” is not the same as a closed weekend

Four carry the words “Saturday daytime”: 26 September, 24 October, 14 November and 12 December. On those dates the Southern Highlands Line entry lists nothing for the Sunday or the Saturday evening. Other lines can still be affected. On 24 and 25 October the calendar lists no trains on the City Circle or between Wynyard and Central. The 14 November block carried a T8 Airport & South Line entry between Glenfield and Sydenham in the 260904 issue; in issue 260918 that block lists the Southern Highlands Line and nothing else.

Two of the six carry no daytime qualifier: 7 and 8 November, and 9 and 10 January. On 7 and 8 November buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown, and on the Saturday evening the replacement runs further, between Moss Vale, Campbelltown and East Hills. That is the closest thing on the calendar to the 12–13 September closure.

A trip to the city from here is two legs: almost every train starts or finishes at Campbelltown, where the T8 Airport & South Line takes over. The calendar takes out both on 7 and 8 November — beside the Southern Highlands entry it lists buses between Macarthur and Glenfield on the T8, and between Macarthur and East Hills on the Saturday evening. It names no stops for either replacement, so it does not say where the two legs would meet, or whether a bus will call at Menangle Park.

That weekend is also the last of the Festival of Fisher’s Ghost: Campbelltown City Council’s 2 September release has the festival running to Sunday 8 November, with the Fun Run that morning, 8am to 12pm, at Western Sydney University and TAFE campuses.

One more entry sits beside it: Friday 6 November evening, buses between Moss Vale and Campbelltown. The January weekend carries T8 buses between Macarthur and Glenfield. The calendar prints no years, but its weekday-and-date pairs match 2026 into January 2027.

What the calendar is, and is not

It is a forecast, not an alert. Its own first page says the summary covers planned trackwork that “may affect your journey”, and asks anyone travelling within two weeks to plan at transportnsw.info for confirmed information. Dates move.

It names no replacement bus routes and no stations they call at. For 12 and 13 September that detail came from the alert rather than the calendar — and Transport for NSW withdrew that alert once the weekend was over, which is what it does, so the calendar is the only one of the two that is still readable. And the calendar begins at Monday 21 September, so it says nothing either way about 14 to 20 September.

Transport for NSW’s departure monitor, re-read on 22 September 2026, shows a different service pattern at Menangle Park from Saturday 10 October 2026; when this item was first written it showed the change from 26 September. Getting to work carries both timetables to the minute. We found no Transport for NSW notice announcing the change when this was written, so do not assume the later one still stands in January.
