The next NSW state election will be held on Saturday 13 March 2027. That's the date on the NSW Electoral Commission's own election page, and it's worth pinning down, because several other dates for this election are still circulating in print and online. If you see a different one, the Commission is the authority.

Which seat is Menangle Park in?

Campbelltown. Not Camden, and not Wollondilly — which is not obvious, given the suburb sits against the Wollondilly boundary and shares a name with a village on the other side of the river.

The Electoral Commission lists Menangle Park among the suburbs of the Legislative Assembly district of Campbelltown, alongside Gilead, Glen Alpine, Englorie Park, Wedderburn, Rosemeadow, St Helens Park, Kentlyn, Gregory Hills and others. The district holds 61,266 electors across 362 square kilometres — one of the physically larger metropolitan-fringe seats, which is what happens when a district takes in both established suburbs and a lot of semi-rural land.

The sitting member for Campbelltown is Greg Warren (Labor).

Two things follow from this that people here sometimes get wrong:

  • The Wire Lane and Spring Farm Parkway announcements that turn up in local coverage are typically made by the members for Camden and Wollondilly — different seats, adjacent to ours.
  • Menangle village, across the Nepean, is not in the same state seat as Menangle Park.

What you're actually voting for

Two ballot papers. One for a single member of the Legislative Assembly to represent the district of Campbelltown, and one for 21 of the 42 members of the Legislative Council — the upper house, elected statewide.

New South Wales is divided into 93 state electoral districts.

Worth doing before March

Check that you're enrolled at your current address. In a suburb where several thousand people are moving into newly registered stages, that's not a formality — if you've moved into the estate since the last election and haven't updated your enrolment, you may still be enrolled where you used to live.

The Electoral Commission has an enrolment lookup that takes about a minute.
