A $2.5 million playground opened at Koshigaya Park in Campbelltown on 12 September 2026, about a fifteen-minute drive from the estate. For families here that matters because the estate’s own Playing Fields Park — four sports fields, an amenities building and a themed playground — is not built, and nothing published gives it a date.
Council’s address for the park is the corner of Hurley Street and Camden Road, Campbelltown 2560. Car park access is off Camden Road, and there is a bus stop beside the park on Hurley Street. The park has sheltered picnic tables, BBQ facilities and toilets. It is on the walking route between Campbelltown station and the Arts Centre.
What is in it
At the centre is an origami crane-themed play structure, marking Campbelltown’s sister city relationship with Koshigaya in Japan, carrying a slide, climbing nets, a basket swing, jungle ropes, a talking tube, a xylophone and a pommel crossing. Around it are a flying fox, swings, embankment play, water play zones, an active and inclusive play area, and cherry blossom trees.
The inclusive equipment includes a carousel, an in-ground trampoline and a seesaw designed for accessible use, alongside a play communication board for children and adults with communication access needs. Council says accessibility was at the forefront of the design. The general play areas are fully shaded, there are new shelters for families and groups, and a new fence separates the playground from Hurley Street.
Where the estate’s own park stands
Benaiah, the project manager acting for Dahua Group Australia, describes its role on the Playing Fields Park as overseeing the design approval process, coordinating consultants, managing authority feedback and making sure plans meet Council requirements for submission and endorsement. The masterplan tracker carries the status of each of the estate’s parks.
The opening morning, and the Sunday after
The 12 September opening ran 10am to 12pm and was free, with a Daruma Doll workshop, Taiko drumming, face painting and a BBQ.
Emergency Ready Day followed at the same park on Sunday 20 September, 11am to 2pm, free, with the NSW State Emergency Service, Fire and Rescue NSW, the NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW Police Force and NSW Ambulance, plus free lunch, face painting and lucky door prizes. Council’s announcement describes the day as back, so it has run before.
More free days out within a short drive are in weekends here.
