Macarthur Energy Pty Ltd, which trades as Macarthur Solar, entered creditors’ voluntary liquidation on 8 September 2026. New reporting published by ABC News on 30 September has detailed customer deposits, creditor claims and regulatory complaints linked to the collapse.

ASIC’s appointment notice says company members resolved on 8 September to wind up Macarthur Energy Pty Ltd and appoint Daniel Robert Soire as liquidator. The Australian Business Register also lists Macarthur Solar as one of the company’s registered business names.

ABC News said it spoke to eight customers who fear they have lost deposits ranging from $1,500 to $17,600 for solar or battery installations that were not completed. The report cited a liquidator’s report saying Macarthur Energy owes about $3.4 million to more than 79 unsecured creditors, including former customers and suppliers.

ABC also reported that 16 former employees are owed more than $420,000 in superannuation, annual leave and redundancy payments.

Building Commission NSW told the ABC it was investigating after receiving more than 100 complaints, including allegations involving deposits above the legal limit and a lack of Home Building Compensation Fund coverage.

For Menangle Park and Macarthur residents who paid a deposit or still have unfinished work with Macarthur Solar, keeping contracts, payment records, emails and other documentation may help when contacting the liquidator or relevant consumer protection bodies about next steps.

The liquidation itself occurred on 8 September. The new development on 30 September is the publication of further details about customer losses, creditor claims and regulatory complaints.
