Council says work has started on Hurley Street Underpass upgrade
The $1 million project closes the pedestrian link between Campbelltown Station and the city centre during construction. Council expects completion in December 2026, weather and site conditions permitting.

Menangle Park readers walking between Campbelltown Station and the city centre will need to follow a signed detour during the Hurley Street Underpass upgrade. Campbelltown City Council’s project page says work has started on the $1 million project and the underpass is closed from Monday 12 October while construction is underway.
Council expects completion in December 2026, weather and site conditions permitting. Its FAQs say station access remains available and train and bus services will continue during construction; pedestrians travelling between the station and city centre should allow extra time.
The planned improvements include public art, lighting and ambient music. Council’s 12 October announcement says L-FRESH The LION and Gillian Kayrooz designed the artwork installation following workshops with local residents and school students.
Council is delivering the project in partnership with Transport for NSW, with funding through Transport for NSW’s reVITALise — Public Transport Precinct Vibrancy Grant program.
See Council’s project page and pedestrian detour map, and follow the signs on site.
