Bus route 889 - Macarthur to Menangle via Menangle Park

Bus route · Transport & motoring

Menangle Park 2563BusIn Menangle ParkSeven daysSchool serviceWheelchair accessible

The only regular public bus route serving Menangle Park, on Transport for NSW's route information checked on 30 August 2026. Operated by Transit Systems NSW SW as a loop between Macarthur Station, the Menangle Park estate, Menangle village and Menangle Park Station. It was upgraded to a seven-day service on 5 July 2026, with 83 extra trips a week.

This is not a new route. Route 889 already served the area and was upgraded: from 5 July 2026 it became a seven-day service with an additional 83 trips a week, where it previously ran up to twelve times a day, six days a week. The change was announced in the NSW ministerial media release of 26 May 2026, funded from the $452 million commitment in the 2025-26 NSW Budget to expand bus services in Sydney’s outer suburbs and regional growth areas.

Counting Macarthur Station departures on the timetable in force, there are 23 weekday trips from 05:06 to 21:36, and 16 trips on Saturdays and 16 on Sundays and public holidays, from 06:16 to 21:14. The weekend last bus is the one to write down: after 21:14 from Macarthur there is no further 889 until the next morning.

It runs as a loop, so the direction you catch matters a lot. From the current timetable: Macarthur to Danehill Avenue takes about 8 minutes, Danehill Avenue back to Macarthur about 10 minutes, Macarthur all the way around to Menangle Park Station about 30 minutes, and Menangle Park Station back to Macarthur about 19 minutes.

Stops listed in the new estate include Danehill Avenue after Peter Pan Street and Miracle Mile Boulevard before Octagonal Drive, plus Station Street in Menangle village and Menangle Park Station.

Every trip is wheelchair accessible: the accessible symbol heads every weekday, Saturday and Sunday column on the current timetable, and the timetable notes low floors with space for a wheelchair, pram or stroller. Menangle Park Station, by contrast, is recorded by Transport for NSW as not wheelchair accessible.

There are dedicated school-time trips to and from Broughton Anglican College Senior Learning Centre at Menangle Park. The timetable shows a Macarthur departure at 08:09 arriving 08:17, with return departures at 07:52, 14:58 and 15:23.

For the airport, take the train to Campbelltown and change to route 845, which starts at Campbelltown Station and runs to Western Sydney International via Oran Park every 30 minutes, 5am to 10pm, seven days; if you begin on the 889, change at Macarthur for a one-stop train to Campbelltown first. Route 845 started on 5 July 2026, but Transport for NSW says access into the airport site is not available until the airport opens; the Australian Government department responsible says passenger flights begin on 25 October 2026.
