The village shop's comeback has settled into something like a routine. The August issue of The Menangle News reports that 67 days after their fire, owners Shane and Marcel are "back in business" — their silver coffee trailer now set up in the grounds of the Old Menangle School.

The new trading hours are the real headline for anyone planning a coffee run:

  • Tuesday to Friday — 7am–2pm
  • Weekends — 8am–2pm
  • Mondays — closed

That's six days a week from a temporary setup, which says a lot about how much the village wanted its shop back.

One thread still open: the newsletter says negotiations with Australia Post are ongoing about restoring the postal services the old store used to provide. We'll follow that up when there's news.

This is the latest chapter in a story we covered in May, when the pair first got back to serving from a pop-up van after the fire. The Old Menangle School site puts them in good company — it's also the gathering point for the St James 150th anniversary parade on 24 October.
