Macarthur Square is the nearest full-scale shopping centre to Menangle Park — around 9 km via Menangle Road, roughly ten minutes with light traffic. It's billed by its own operators as southwest Sydney's largest shopping destination: three levels, about 107,000 square metres, and more than 300 specialty stores built around nine anchor tenants.
Those anchors cover most reasons you'd make the drive. David Jones, Big W and Target for department-store shopping; Coles, Woolworths and Aldi for the grocery run; Dan Murphy's and H&M; an Event Cinemas multiplex, plus Kingpin Bowling and JB Hi-Fi. In practice that means one trip can knock over the weekly shop, a department-store errand and a movie without moving the car between stops.
The centre opened in 1979 and has been redeveloped twice since — a $160m upgrade in 2005 and a larger $240m expansion in 2016/17, which is where the current parking deck came from.
Good to know: open 9am–5:30pm Monday to Wednesday and Friday to Saturday, late-night trade to 9pm on Thursday, and 10am–5pm on Sunday (individual stores can vary, and check the site for holiday hours). Parking is ticketless — number-plate recognition at the gates — with over 4,000 spaces. Standard rate is 3 hours free per day; it's free from 6pm to midnight; a validated Event Cinemas ticket adds an extra hour (4 total); and spending $150+ in the centre gets you free parking for the whole day. Registered mobility-permit holders park free all day (register at Guest Services, Level 3, near David Jones).
