Menangle Park's first public primary school has cleared a real milestone: School Infrastructure NSW has completed the initial master plan for a new primary school in the suburb, according to a planning update the NSW Department of Education published in June 2026. The school will sit centrally in the precinct, near the future proposed Menangle Park town centre and the housing still to come, with capacity for 500 students and a master plan built to allow for further expansion down the track.
The plan calls for 24 classrooms grouped around shared common areas and multipurpose spaces, plus three support learning classrooms and a co-located public early learning centre — so pre-school-age kids and primary students will share one site. Rounding it out: a multipurpose school hall and covered outdoor learning area (COLA), a full-sized playing field, a multipurpose sports court, landscaping, a kiss-and-drop zone and bicycle racks.
What it means for residents: right now Menangle Park has no public primary school of its own — this is the first confirmation that one is actually coming, not just a line on a masterplan. A Project Reference Group of local educational experts, architects, planners and design professionals has been set up to guide the project from here. But "master plan done" is still an early stage: site due diligence assessments and investigations start later in 2026, the architect is currently validating the master plan ahead of concept design, and a community information session is planned for later in 2026, ahead of the project seeking formal planning approval.
From there the department's indicative timeline runs through planning approval late in 2026, a construction contract awarded in early 2027, building starting mid-2027 and finishing late 2028. As the update states plainly: "The new school will open to students for Day 1 Term 1 2029." For anyone weighing up enrolments or timing a move around school access, that's the earliest realistic date to plan around — not a guarantee, since planning approval and a construction contract are still to come.
